# Get started with ReverseSignal Returns

This article explains what installing the app does, what you'll see on **Home**, and how to finish setup.

## What installing does

The app connects to your store as soon as you install it. There's no Connect button to click. The first time you open the app from your Shopify admin (Apps → ReverseSignal), it shows "Setting up your store…" for a few moments. You don't need to do anything.

The app is free to install and use. There's no plan to choose and nothing to pay.

## What Home shows

**Home** *is* the returns flow: every role lands there and can start a return right away, with no setup screen in the way.

* Owner or Admin, setup not finished: one line above the returns flow, "Finish setup in Settings (N of M)". N is the steps done and M is the steps in total, the same count as the setup guide. Click it to open **Settings**.
* Owner or Admin, setup finished: nothing above the returns flow. The line goes away once every step is done.
* Agent: the returns flow only, with no setup line, ever.

## The setup guide, in Settings

The setup guide lives in **Settings**, above **Portal address**. It lists the steps to get your returns portal ready, and it disappears once every step is done. The first step, **Store connected**, is already marked **Done** when you install. Next to a progress bar, the guide shows how many steps are done, for example "1 of 2 done".

The step you do yourself is **Claim your portal address**. It sits directly beside the **Portal address** section below it. There's no button to click: just fill in **Portal address**. The full walkthrough is in [Claim your portal address](./claim-portal-address).

## Owner, Admin and Agent

The app gives everyone who opens it one of 3 roles:

1. **Owner**: the Shopify account owner. Always Owner, and it can't be changed.
2. **Admin**: a staff member an Owner or Admin has made an Admin in **Settings → Team**. The change takes effect the next time they open the app.
3. **Agent**: every other staff account, until someone makes them an Admin.

Only an Owner or Admin sees **Settings** and the setup guide. Agents see **Home** and **Returns**, with no setup controls and no links to Settings. They go straight to handling returns.
