# Manage your team

This article explains what each role can do, and how to change someone's role.

## The 3 roles

The app gives everyone who opens it one of 3 roles:

* **Owner**: the Shopify account owner. Always Owner, and it can't be changed. Sets the app up once, then checks in now and then. Sees **Home**, **Returns** and **Settings**.
* **Admin**: a staff member an Owner or Admin has made an Admin. Can do everything an Owner can in the app: see **Home**, **Returns** and **Settings**, and manage the team.
* **Agent**: every other staff account, until someone makes them an Admin. Handles returns every day. Sees **Home** and **Returns** only, with no Settings link of any kind.

## Make someone an Admin

You need to be the store's Owner or an Admin to do this.

1. In your Shopify admin, open Apps → ReverseSignal, then open **Settings**.
2. Under **Team**, find the staff member's row.
3. Click **Make Admin**.

The change takes effect the next time they open the app.

## Make an Admin an Agent again

1. In **Settings**, under **Team**, find the Admin's row.
2. Click **Make Agent**.

The Owner's row always shows "Can't be changed", because the Owner's role is fixed.

An Admin can make themselves an Agent from their own "You" row. Only the Owner or another Admin can make them an Admin again.

## If something goes wrong

If **Team** shows "We couldn't load your team", click **Retry**.

If a change doesn't go through, **Team** shows "We couldn't change that role" with the reason. If it says your session has expired, reload the app from your Shopify admin. If it can't find the staff member, reload the list and try again.

## Who shows up in Team

Only staff who have opened the app at least once show up, one row per person. No names are stored: a row reads "You", "Owner", "You (Owner)" or "Staff member {Shopify staff id}". If no one has opened the app yet, **Team** says "No one has opened the app yet."
